The fall and winter have taken a toll on the Cape Charles Beach. Seasonal erosion is normal, but the last few seasons have taken a bite out of the beachfront.
The dunes are still gaining, but the space from the dunes to the waterline has been steadily decreasing.
As marketing, Beachfront Bargain Hunt, and word of mouth has spread, this summer is primed to be very tourist-heavy.
With larger crowds and a smaller beach, this could impact the beach experience, at least for locals that tend to come on weekends.

How much is in the budget for the beach ? And does the T C have a real interest in the Beach.
TC has budgeted money for beach sand replenishment. We have a beach management plan that was put together by our wetlands board. Feel free to look at it on our town website. If you had specific comments about it, let us know. As stated in our past comprehensive Plan (2016) and more recent survey results as input to our current draft comp plan update, the beach is viewed as a prime asset for the town along with our harbor.
I’m thinking a larger concern is the lack of public restrooms near the beach. Does the town have a plan to add facilities??
I think you are correct ,we need some more rest rooms and it should be addressed by the T C . Sign up and address the T C .
The facilities at Kiptopeake , scaled and modified to Cape Charles beach , night be worth looking at .

Adding and grading fresh new beach sand between dunes and the high water line makes alot of sense. Trucking in bright sand not pumped sand from the bay during winter/spring would ensure an attractive beach. Any dredged sand could be stored and allowed to bleach out for later use.
The beach is small enough that if funds could be procured this annual resurfacing would help with erosion and maintain an attractive beach for the summer.
I am sure its expensive but the beach is every bit as important to the town as the harbor marina.
Let’s add some funding to add more police officers to keep our beach and community safe.
