CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Memorial Library is inviting the community’s youngest readers to join its new “Little Sprouts Storytime” program, designed for children ages 0–4 and their caregivers. The weekly program will be held every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the library’s program room at 201 Mason Avenue.
Each Tuesday session offers a different themed activity to keep families engaged:
- 1st Tuesday – Story & Yoga: Stories, rhymes, fingerplays, and simple yoga poses.
- 2nd Tuesday – Story & Craft: Creative crafts paired with stories and rhymes.
- 3rd Tuesday – Story & Sensory Process Art: Messy, hands-on art activities (parents are advised to skip the nice clothes).
- 4th Tuesday – Story & Building Blocks: Fingerplays and storytime with different types of building blocks.
- 5th Tuesday – Pajama Storytime & Games: Families are encouraged, but not required, to wear pajamas for an extra-fun story and game session.
Library staff say the program is more than just fun. “Storytime encourages language and literacy, cognitive development, and social-emotional growth for the children.”
The program is free, but space in the library’s program room is limited and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. Families should also be aware that photos and videos may be taken by library staff for use on the library’s website or social media. Anyone who prefers not to be photographed should notify staff.
