CAPE CHARLES, VA — The town of Cape Charles is proposing a new ordinance that would prohibit the use of motorized devices on key shared-use areas. According the Town Manager’s report, Capital Projects Manager Bob Panek has drafted the staff report and the proposed ordinance. This includes banning motorized skateboards, motorized scooters, electric bikes, and similar devices on the shared-use path in Central Park and the Bay Avenue boardwalk.
Enforcement and Implementation
If passed, the ordinance will require clear signage and public awareness campaigns to inform residents and visitors about the new rules. The town council may also have to consider the deployment of additional park and trail patrols to enforce the ban and ensure compliance.
