Pursuant to Code of Virginia § 15.2-1800, the Cape Charles Town Council will hold a public hearing on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. in the Cape Charles Civic Center at 500 Tazewell Avenue to receive comments regarding the conveyance of a portion of tax parcel #83A3-A014 to the Cape Charles Rosenwald School Restoration Initiative.
An ordinance authorizing such conveyance, per Code of Virginia § 15.2-2100, will be considered by Council the same evening.
On March 4, 2021, Council was briefed on the CCRSRI request to convey a portion of tax parcel 83A3-A-14 (Parcel 14) so that they are better able to redevelop their existing property (83A4-A-23) for fundraising and other community events. Parcel 14 is currently leased to South Port Investors, LLC until 2036. South Port is supportive of CCRSRI and has committed to terminating the lease if the portion of the parcel is conveyed.
The Town would gain access to usable portions of the parcel for future expansion of public facilities while helping the CCRSRI effort. Council directed staff to proceed with the subdivision and disposal process.

Cape Charles giving away more land! Why not just give them a free lease and keep ownership?
