The Cape Charles Town Council has approved a conditional use permit to construct a miniature golf course. The proposed location is on Stone Road at the entrance of the town proper. The course would be a commercial use in the C-3 zoning district.
The applicants Tom and Katie Austin have told the town that they would like to offer some lite food fare, beer, wine and canned cocktails on the premise. The proposed hours of operation will close at 9:00 pm during the summer season and reduced hours in the shoulder season.
The design will include two speakers to play ambient music with no live music planned for the venue.
There will be landscape lighting on the course itself which will allow for mini-golfing in the evening hours. The applicants are working on the sign (4 ft x 6 ft) and will submit that for a sign permit application.

It is a Putt -Putt venue, not a real golf course.
Editor’s Note: Mini-golf is Putt-Putt.

Basically, another drinking establishment, under the guise of a “family oriented” cover.

This is great for kids and adults who need a break from the beach. There aren’t many (if any) daytime activities for kids and this mini-golf is a major plus for Cape Charles and it’s vacationers. Since food and drinks are offered, the adults can relax a bit and watch the fund the kids are having or join in the fun!!!
Kudos to Tom and Katie for their beautiful and artistic mini golf.
