HASHI FOOD TRUCK: Visiting the Shore on April 30th

If you’ve been lucky enough to have been around Town Center or some festival when The Hashi Food Truck was there, then you have to be excited by the news that it will be visiting the Shore later this month. The Hashi Food Truck will be at the historic house Chatham during the Eastern Shore Tour House & Garden Tour on Saturday April 30th from 11am to 2pm.
The owner, and head chef of the truck, Ross Riddle, is known for a unique approach to food, challenging the way we think about traditional meals. The Hashi food truck describes what they do as, “serving breakfast and lunch through a marriage of Virginia foodways and Asian cookery.”

Note: Foodways- the eating habits and culinary practices of a people, region, or historical period. Cookery-1: the art or practice of cooking. 2: an establishment for cooking.

Hashi is Japanese for chopsticks and, shares the same phonetic as the word for bridge, so metaphorically the Hashi Truck attempts to “bridge food concepts of east and west, north and south, and serve up healthy filling meals with variety utilizing ingredients sourced as close to home as possible.”

Mr. Ross pickles his own vegetables using seasonal, locally grown produce. The menu is floating, so the fun thing is to find out just what the truck will be serving, whether its miso soup, sushi, or egg with a roasted turnip & carrot salad.

The Hashi food truck is like taking trip, an imaginative exploration of food made of fresh, instinctive ingredients–we can’t wait to see what they bring to the Shore on April 3oth.
