WASHINGTON, DC: Today, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02) released the following statement regarding reports that three American servicemembers were killed and 25 were wounded in an Iran-backed unmanned drone attack in Jordan.
“I am both sad and angry learning about the death of three servicemembers and the injury of 25 in Jordan. My prayers are with their families and friends. Make no mistake: this attack is not an isolated incident. For months, American troops have been under unrelenting attack by Iran-backed groups across the Middle East. These acts of aggression cannot go unanswered. I look forward to reviewing the Department of Defense’s plan of action to prevent further aggression and ensure the safety and security of our troops in the region and around the world.”

ME: When I read these missives or whatever they are from the good Congresswoman from Virginia, I have to wonder if she has spent a good part of her life in a sound-proof chamber where no news of the outside world has been allowed to filter in to disturb her ignorance of reality.
American troops have been under attack in Iraqinam and Syria for far longer than a couple of months.
And those “acts of aggression” as she calls them are because the people who live in those areas, like was the case in Viet Nam, and the case in America in 1775 are because the people who live in those areas do not want those troops there, period, and that includes the government of Iraqinam itself.
Being a puppet or client state of America, of course, the government of Iraqinam has no territorial sovereignty, just like was the case back when Rome ruled that part of the world and sent their legions wherever they would, because like the US today, they thought they were invincible.
Ms. Kiggans should make a better effort to learn about how the world functions.
We were in Viet Nam because a true horse’s ass named Lyndon Baines Johnson in Washington famously said that he was not going to let some “raggedy-ass little fourth-rate country” push mighty America around, except they did.
And those of us with working memories, something congresswoman Kiggans seems to lack, remember those “contractors” America had in Iraqinam hanging from that bridge, and our troops battling the militia of Ad Sadr.
So this has been going on for far longer than a couple of months.
And on that subject of who are the real aggressors here, Bloomberg just had an article out titled “Iraq Says 16 Killed in US Strikes, Calls Security Risk Grave – US strikes overnight came in retaliation for troop deaths – Iran says Washington is stoking regional instability” by Khalid Al Ansary and Jennifer Jacobs on February 3, 2024, where was stated as follows:
Iraq’s government said civilians were among at least 16 people killed in a wave of US airstrikes that the Middle Eastern country called a grave risk to security in the region.
The strikes also injured at least 25 and damaged residential building, Iraq said.
“This aggressive strike will put security in Iraq and the region on the brink of an abyss,” Basim Al-Awadi, a spokesman for Iraq’s government, said in a statement issued on Saturday.
“Iraq reiterates its refusal to let its lands be an arena for settling scores.”

To close, as a REAL COMBAT VETERAN, someone who has actually “felt the wind,” I have these words of advice for Ms. Kiggans to consider:
When you are armed with a deadly weapon, and the backyard you are standing in with your weapon is not your backyard, then it is YOU that are the AGGRESSOR, and that makes you a legitimate target for those who do own the backyard, and if Ms. Kiggans thinks the Pentagon and all the king’s horses, and all the king’s men are going to change that calculus, she is daft and shouldn’t be serving in OUR congress, where she is part of the problem with her BELLIGERENT BELLICOSE JINGO talk, not a part of the solution.

When those in power, regardless of where or when, but specifically in this case, here in Washington, D.C., do not know history, which is the on-going story of HUMAN NATURE, not mere events, then they are stupid, and even more stupid are those who put them there, and this seems to be especially true in the case of congresswoman Kiggans of Va., who has it in her head that America rules the world, when it can’t even govern itself.

As to this MESS in the Middle East that goes back way farther than a couple of months, which inane statement is an indication of just how far out of touch with reality congresswoman Kiggans is, as we see by going to p. 86 of “FIASCO – The American Military Adventure in Iraq” by Thomas E. Ricks, in the chapter entitled “THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS,” it was largely created in the first place by the stupidity and short-sightedness chiefly of Joe Biden when he was ranking minority member of the senate foreign relations committee, which stupidity was later aided and abetted by more stupidity on the part Hussein Obama and Tony Blinken and Jake Sullivan when Joe was Hussein’s assistant president, so back to February of 2003 we go, where we had this classic shallow-thinking by Joe then that made the mess he is confronted with today that resulted in the deaths of those Reservists in Jordan, thanks to Joe Biden, to wit:

And it is precisely that lack of postwar planning twenty-one years ago that has resulted in the mess Joe Biden is confronted with today, which brings us back to that article and Joe’s stupidity, which is all he has ever had to offer to America, a lack of wits and good sense while Joe was in there to get his palm greased and his pocket stuffed, to wit:

He couldn’t say how many troops might be required, or what a war might cost, or even what other countries might join the U.S.-led effort.
“Senator, it’s hard to answer a lot of these what-ifs because a lot depends on, you know, future events that we don’t know,” Feith told Sen. Joseph Biden, the Delaware Democrat who was the ranking minority member on the panel.
“There are enormous uncertainties.”
As for the key question of the duration of the occupation, Feith deferred answering.
“I don’t think I want to venture into the prediction business,” he parried.
“The American people have no notion of what we are about to undertake,” Biden concluded that day.
It was an important observation about a democracy about to launch a war in a distant land, alien culture, and hostile region.

Ricks, where we have this from a Marine general on the mess Joe was creating by being short-sighted and stupid, to wit:
(U.S. Marine General) Zinni, waiting to testify, sat in the room and grew increasingly uneasy as he listened to Feith and other administration officials.
“They were nowhere near capable” of transforming first Iraq and then the Middle East, he thought to himself.

His private conclusion that day, listening to Feith and the other administration witnesses was, “These guys don’t have a clue.”
When it came his turn to move to the witness chair, Zinni came close to lecturing the Foreign Relations Committee on how they might better have handled the administration’s witnesses.
First of all, he said, you need to abandon the idea of an “exit strategy,” because there isn’t going to be one: “There’s things in this part of the world that are too important for us to think that this is a ‘go in, do the job as best we can, and pull out.’”
Also, you could have pinned them down on their goals.
Is it really “a magnificent democracy” they’re aiming for? he asked.
“I mean, is it truly this transformed Iraq that we’ve heard about, or are we just going to rid of Saddam Hussein and hope for the best?”
“. . . . What is it you want?”
Zinni decided that day that the neoconservatives in the administration really were consciously rolling the dice.
“I think – and this is just my opinion – that the neocons didn’t really give a **** what happened in Iraq and the aftermath,” he said much later.
“I don’t think they thought it was going to be this bad.”
