Kiggans to Host Local High School Students for Congressional Art Competition Showcase

WASHINGTON, DC: On May 13th, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02) will host an exhibit at Virginia Wesleyan University featuring all of the student entries from this year’s Congressional Art Competition. All students, family members, art teachers, and friends are welcome to attend the reception, during which the Congresswoman will announce the winners. In total, the Congresswoman’s office received 73 total submissions from eight different high schools.

The first-place winner will be invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony in Washington, D.C. and their artwork will be on display in the U.S. Capitol for an entire year. The second-place winning entry will hang in Congresswoman Kiggans’ Washington, D.C. office for a year. The remaining winners will have their artwork on display in the Congresswoman’s multiple district offices.

Started in 1982, the Congressional Art Competition is an annual contest run by the U.S. House of Representatives where high school students from across the country are invited to showcase their artistic abilities.
