250th Anniversary of the 1774 Virginia Resolves
Join us to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the 1774 Virginia Resolves at a special event:
- Date and Time: Friday, June 7th, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
- Location: Watermen’s Museum
Event Highlights:
- Activities: Participate in a reenactment of the County Committee of Safety meeting. Take a stand against England by voting upon the County Resolves.
- Historical Context: Learn about the divide in 1774 Virginia between loyalty to the British monarchy and the growing rebellion against taxes on tea and other goods.
- Debate: Decide if you are for or against the Resolves. Will you remain neutral, or will you sign the Articles of Association and unite with the rebels in dressing the Liberty Pole?
Purpose:
- Explore the origins of the Virginia Bill of Rights and our shared colonial history.
- Engage in a slice of colonial politics.
