VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Today, the National Organization for Women endorsed Missy Cotter Smasal, a Navy veteran, former small business owner, and mom, for Virginia’s Second Congressional District. NOW is a leading national organization dedicated to achieving and protecting equal rights for all women and girls in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.
“Virginia women deserve a leader who will fight to protect their rights and freedoms,” said Christian F. Nunes, Chairwoman National Organization for Women PAC. “I’m confident that Missy Cotter Smasal will deliver. She’ll work to protect abortion rights and promote equity. Missy understands the critical role intersectionality plays in women’s rights and I look forward to her advocating for women and girls in Congress.”
“I’m thankful to be endorsed by the National Organization for Women,” said Missy Cotter Smasal, Democratic Candidate for Virginia’s Second Congressional District. “As a mom, I am dedicated to protecting my daughter’s rights, and the rights of girls across the district, many of whom I’ve coached, led in Girl Scouts, and taught. When women and girls succeed, our community succeeds. I look forward to working with NOW to continue forcefully advocating for women.”
This key endorsement comes on the heels of House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) endorsing Missy. Missy was also endorsed by Planned Parenthood and is on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s highly competitive Red to Blue program for the 2024 cycle.
