Deadrise Pies ups its game for 2018 Season

July 8, 2018 by Leave a Comment

One of the best things to happen to Cape Charles was having the Deadrise Pies pizzeria and sub shop open downtown. While we always have great lunch and dinner options from Kelly’s, the Oyster Farm and the Shanty, sometimes you just want a pizza or a sandwich. Deadrise has been a lifesaver for many families, especially now that on a weeknight we can feed a family for around $20. The DR Margherita and Alvor are still pizza favorites, as well as all the subs including the delicious veggie Caprese sub (Fresh Mozzarella, Arugula, Red Onion, Tomato, Aged Balsamic & Olive Oil).

All the stuff you loved about Deadrise is still there, but they have really upped their game this season adding a delectable dinner menu to the already great fare.

A wonderful dish is the House Bolognese, with tender chunks of veal, beef, pork and sausage, all stewed for 4 hours over pappardelle. For the classicist, the Chicken Milanese, lightly fried chicken breast with gremolata, angel hair & lemon arugula for only $15.99 is a real go-to.

Italian seafood lovers will enjoy a very solid entry of clams & linguini with garlic, white wine, and lemon sauce–it’s really good.  The blue crab ravioli with lemon riesling sauce and sun-dried tomato, cracked pepper, parsley are superb.

The old school favorites of Lasagna with sausage, beef, provolone, mozzarella & ricotta, as well as the chicken parmesan over linguini, red sauce and basil are very solid entrees that will not disappoint.

If you are into small plates, the Fritto Misto (Gulf Shrimp, Calamari, Artichoke Hearts & Banana Peppers w/ House Marinara), House Meatballs in red sauce, or the Caprese salad (Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato, Aged Balsamic, Olive Oil, Basil & Red Onion) are perfect for starters, or just  a mid-afternoon snack with a beverage.

They also offer fresh salads (Bleu, Ceasar, and House) with locally grown, fresh ingredients. They are super fresh and delicious.

The food at Deadrise is the attraction, of course, but the renovated interior with beachy booths also makes dining in much more fun and personal. Outside, they have expanded the courtyard and
added a privacy fence–eating outside is a very fun thing to do, a great way to spend the evening after a day at the beach.

Late night, if you are hungry for a slice and maybe hearing some tunes, they have you covered. Friday and Saturday they are open until 10:00.

They also provide a full-service bar offering a great selection of beer, wine, and mixed drinks.
