Exmore Police Dept. to Host 3rd Annual National Night Out “Party in the Park”

August 5, 2018 by Leave a Comment

Exmore, VA  –  On Tuesday evening, August 7, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Eastern Shore residents are invited to turn on their porch lights, grab family members and friends and head to the Exmore Town Park to celebrate Exmore’s 3rd Annual National Night Out (NNO). This event, hosted by the Exmore Police Department under the leadership of Chief Angelo DiMartino, is part of coast-to-coast observance of America’s Night Out to Fight Crime, which is now in its 35th year. The goal is to strengthen neighborhoods and forge police-community partnerships for combatting criminal activity and drug use.

Exmore’s National Night Out “Party in the Park”

More than 16,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canada, and military bases around the world are involved, with over 38 million people are expected to participate in. Exmore is the only registered NNO on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and this family-oriented “Party in the Park” is open to everyone.

While the intent remains serious, Exmore’s NNO will be filled with entertainment: bouncy houses for the kids, cornhole for everyone, food trucks and more. JD Outten will provide music from his DJ playlist. As a “party with a purpose”, Exmore’s National Night Out will showcase information from community organizations and groups, and the Northampton County Sheriff’s Department will provide free IDENT-A-KID fingerprinting to help protect our children. The Exmore Police Department will be handing out firearm safety information and gun locks. The Eastern Shore Coalition against violence will be there with information. Will the ESVA’s most famous canine, McGruff the Crime Dog arrive for photos and paw-shaking? You’ll have to come out and see.

“This is the third consecutive year that Sargent Jason Campbell and our police team have hosted this event. It is the only celebration of National Night Out here on the ESVA, and we want the people of Exmore and surrounding towns to get to know each other and the police officers who serve them,” said Chief DiMartino. “We also want everyone to have a good time.”
