We had a great time exploring Cape Charles this weekend. This is the third year we have had our yearly camping trip in Cape Charles and it continues to grow every time. Our friends traveled from 1-4 hours to get here. My husband, Matt Hannon, and I hosted a group total of 18 friends and family. We stayed at the Chesapeake Bay KOA in RVs and their fabulous safari tents. On Saturday, our group split up for outings downtown.
The guys went to Cape Charles Brewing Company for a tour and tasting. The owner graciously provided a tour and history of the brewery. They enjoyed tasty eats and sipped the delicious pumpkin beer (among others).
The girls stopped at Gull Hummock market for a private tasting. Gull Hummock owners, Jon and Honey, spoiled our group rotten with charcuterie samplers and ample pours of wine. We learned about the wine and got a tutorial on the perfect way to swirl wine. Honey is an expert!
A visit downtown wouldn’t be complete without stopping at a few of our other favorite spots. We popped in Buskey Cider for a flight and Brown dog with a sweet treat.
The weekend was one of many laughs, sunshine, and full bellies. As our group gets older—- work, kids, and the responsibilities of life make these weekends fewer and far between. Because of that, we truly cherish these moments and put a lot of planning in how we will spend it. While none of us are native to Cape Charles, it has easily become a special place to all of us.
Of course, it is a gorgeous beach town, but it actually offers a lot more than a pretty view. The community of Cape Charles is full of the kindest people. The charm of the town is truly unique and indescribable. In addition, the business owners of this town are SO accommodating and welcoming. Gull Hummock and Cape Charles Brewing Company went out of their way to make our weekend unforgettable. We couldn’t imagine spending our annual trip anywhere else!

Sometimes, we as avid tent campers, can appreciate a glamping experience. I still was able to cook on the grill. Looking forward to next years shenanigans.
