Phil Hernandez, candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates 100th District claimed Tuesday that he was in the town of Eastville knocking on doors for his campaign. Unfortunately, local police officer Stubbs ruined the narrative. Hernandez was busted out by a local cop who pointed out the another reason why he was there.
On his campaign Facebook page, Hernandez wrote, “Last week, Rob Bloxom spent 90 minutes in conversation with the NRA at a meeting that was closed to the press…Today, he spent 90 minutes in special session in Richmond, where he adjourned without taking a vote or spending a minute in conversation about actual legislation. That’s not leadership. The job of our leaders — even when we may disagree with them in the end — is to work to bring all of us together. Politicians in Richmond fell far short of that standard today. “

“That’s why I’m in Eastville talking with voters right now — knocking on doors, having discussions, sharing stories. And why I’m proud to say that I’ve received the 2019 MDA Gun Sense Candidate mark of distinction. Because this is what true representation should look like.”
Rob Stubbs of the Eastville Police Department commented on the post:
“I thought you were in Eastville for Court,” Stubbs wrote. “Yes I’m sure you were. While you were speeding and making Cape Charles a dangerous place due to your driving behavior, Rob Bloxom was leading. Representing our Eastern Shore interests in Richmond.”
Court documents confirm Stubbs’ account. Hernandez was apparently ticketed for doing 43 mph in a 25 mph zone.

So I went to the MDA website to see who they are and what they have done. I wanted to see why Mr. Hernandez is so proud to be their Rep. What I see there is fear and emotion on full display. I certainly understand why survivors of gun violence would have lots to be angry about, and want change. I simply don’t see what I would call common sense fixes to the gun violence problems.
I guess those are Mr. Hernandez plans for the way to represent us. Be emotional and not really be honest and have loose campaign statements that have more promise of loose and ineffective representation ?
Mr. Hernandez apparently believe taking cheap shots at Mr. Bloxom will move voters. Closed door meetings take place all the time. Does anyone now what was said at the meeting among democrats when Mr. Hernandez was chosen to be their candidate ? Not the announcement day, but the day democrats decided to put their money behind Hernandez ? Who was there ? Was that an open meeting ?
Sadly we also read Mr. Hernandez proudly misdirects voters and covers the reason he’s in Eastville by saying he’s doing one thing when he’s actually doing something else.
If he thinks cheap shots at another candidate, plans to represent an ineffective organization, and dishonest statements about his activities will get my vote, well he thinks less of me than he should.

Why can’t the Democrat Candidates tell the truth? Is there something in their DNA that is missing? Like character? Vote for Bloxom. He has CHARACTER and doesn’t lie.
thecandideye says
So, in the same day, he couldn’t be in court and out canvassing?
This is a distraction. Tell us about policies.
We spent much of our life in courts, fighting for crimes against us, as well as, fighting for the Rights of every citizen.
How does this define his character?
Dave says
Haven’t you heard? They have NONE.

Vote right to keep what’s left!

Amazing..in politics today the TRUTH is the evil word.
Terrible.

Wow, if a speeding ticket is the best criticism they can come up with then clearly Bloxom is in trouble. At least Phil is out talking to folks, while Bloxom has closed door meetings with the special interests that are paying for his entire campaign. He’s even admitted that he doesn’t feel the need to go out and talk to the people he’s representing. And why should he when we all know who’s buttering his bread. Time to vote Bloxom out.
Brittany says
His entire campaign? Bloxom has accepted $250 from the NRA which is the meeting I am sure you are referring to. Also, it isn’t the speeding ticket. It is the statements he made on social media regarding his whereabouts and reasons to be on the Shore. If there was nothing wrong with what Phil said why did he take the post down????
Eddie says
Yeah Brittany, special interests fund his entire campaign! I did my research on him. He’s got fewer than 100 small dollar donors (under $100) this time around. Hernandez has over EIGHT THOUSAND. Almost ALL of Bloxoms $ over the years has come from big business, political committees, and wealthy donors. Dominion Energy, House Republican Campaign committee, bailouts from his cronies Delegate Knight and Cox, Coastline Chemical, VA Auto dealers, VA Dental Assn, VA Hospital and Healthcare Assn and yes the NRA. The list goes on and on and on. Almost NONE of it comes from regular people.
Bloxom is bought and paid for by corporations and the politically connected, plain and simple. People are sick of it and the data shows.
This is all public info, just google it (although something tells me you already know this). But yeah, let’s talk about a ticket and some FB post. Classic “nothing to see here” deflection.
Linda Williams says
You are talking about mr hernandez aren’t you? Where do you think he is getting his finances? The Dems not only have buttered his bread, but have given him a case of wine to go with it! Vote Rob and drink champagne on Nov. 5th. Any one that has lived on the ES knows you never go 45 in Onancock, Parksley, Chincoteague, Exmore, Onley nor Cape Charles! lol

Well I would think, that when challenged about his Eastville post about meeting with voters that a Deputy debunked, Mr. Hernandez would have stood up for himself and stated he had also been meeting with voters. I mean, if someone had challenged my statement, I would have challenged them back. Wouldn’t you ? If I am running for office and claim to be a fighter, and someone, Deputy or not, challenges my press release, I would comment back and continue to support myself. If I had indeed also spoken to voters I would have said so. Instead Mr. Hernandez simply took down his post. This from a man who claims to be ready to fight for us. He won’t even fight for himself ? What does THAT say ? I could be wrong, but I don’t think he’s a fighter AND I think the deputy is correct and the man drives unsafely. So he’s showing he cares for our kids ? 43 in a 25 is a residential zone. Then this paper asks for info on where his donations are coming from and they don’t respond ? Hmmmmm……….D.C. $ not district 100 money ? Hmmmmmm………And I repeat, closed door meetings take place all the time with politicians. Those people and their supporters have a lot to discuss and SOMETIMES don’t have the available time to let everyone in and throw a different agenda into the meeting. Rob Bloxom is as responsible a man as we can find. He is fiscally responsible with our money in Richmond. He simply wants Richmond to have the money in place before he can vote to support it. In other words, when all the legislators put the money in place, then he agrees to pay for it. It’s a good idea to have the money before any of us buy something, no ? He is on the most important committees that affect business growth and responsible management of resources. Because he immediately got involved in all that in our legislature his fellow delegates voted him rookie of the year. HIS FELLOW LEGISLATORS SAID HE WAS THE BEST OF THE NEW CROP. Now he has a track record of helping those committees. Getting us tax refunds. Having more State $ than ever before funding back this way to help our businesses grow responsibly. He’s lived here all his life and worked within the area to understand our needs. Mr. Hernandez was born here and left as soon as possible. Yeah. He loves the place. Then he was in D.C. writing for the program to “fix” the homeless problem in California. How’d that work out ? Now he comes back and “speeds” through the area again and won’t stand up for his actions. I know how I read all this and I’m sticking with the man who has been “gittin ‘er done”.
Abby says
Del. Bloxom he is busy with all his important committees in Richmond so he doesn’t have time to meet with his constituents…… somehow all of the other Delegates find the time though?? Doesn’t add up. I ‘m sure folks in his hometown know him well and he’s a nice guy and all that but he’s been a no-show in most of the rest of the district. And if he’s working so hard for us, why has he missed so many votes???
Seems like his heart is not in this job and he’s just mailing it in. And he only got the job in the first place because his daddy had it before him. I’m tired of good ol boy politicians who think they can coast through and arent willing to work for the people they represent.
MJM says
Well I am glad this is all an important subject to us. Our proper representation in Richmond is good for the entire district. There is no denying I am a Bloxom supporter. I just have to say I don’t understand where the negative comments about Mr. Bloxom come from. Yeah, I know the guy. Please tell me what the basis is for saying that “he is a no show in most of the rest of the district” I don’t know what that means and how it applies to him. Where has he failed to go or be that he was needed ? I have never heard of any such situation. I also don’t understand why anyone would say he is “a good ‘ol boy politician who only got elected because his daddy had the job”. I mean, why would anyone take such a cheap shot and make such an off handed and frankly ridiculous comment ? Mr. Bloxom had an excellent reputation as a family man and business man. He was heavily involved in his community and church. Then, OH MY GOSH, he won an election ! You know. One of those days where people go to the voting booth and state their opinion by pushing a button ?
Now I’m even hearing on the radio commercials for Mr. Hernandez that his side is stating that Rob Bloxom took illegal gifts from corporations. What’s next ? He has 23 girlfriends and 45 illegitimate children ? And he met all the women through Donald Trump ? I have never seen any public record of Mr. Bloxom receiving any illegal gifts. If anyone has, please state it in here where I/we can look for it.
While Mr. Bloxom may not have gotten out and shook every hand in the district, please tell me in here where he needed to be and did not show up ?
I have looked in many places on the internet. I honestly cannot find stats about our Va. Legislature and how many times they show up to vote. Someone in here has stated that Mr. Bloxom has missed a lot of votes. Please tell me where I can find public records of the % of votes that our legislators vote or don’t vote. I simply can’t find it and would like to verify this statement made about Del. Bloxom.
I have seen a few irregularities in here about Mr. Hernandez and they surely make him look like he misrepresents facts and bad mouths Mr. Bloxom for no reason via his ads. THAT makes me believe he’s more interested in slander than proper representation.
And as to Mr. Hernandez and Mr. Bloxom, and their contributions. VERYONE PLEASE VISIT the website ,,,,followthemoney.org. It is a a website that shows all of us where donations come from that politicians receive. Personally, I see nothing wrong with Mr. Bloxom receiving higher $ contributions from those he represents. I am one of them. I gave him $1,000. I happen to be a lucky businessman who has worked hard all my life, rewarded my employees well, and provide an excellent community service. For anyone to state in this forum, that those of us who are entrepreneurs who work 70 hours a week are not “regular people” that Mr. Bloxom represents, then some of us just don’t know what it takes to succeed, or what hard work is.
Be that as it may, please notice how many very small dollar contributions were listed on followthemoney as being made to Mr. Hernandez by Mr. Hernandez, or his wife, or his family. How honest is that ? I always heard that the only thing worse than a thief, is a petty thief. He’s misrepresenting $3 and $% donations to get our votes ? It certainly appears as though Mr. Hernandez is representing to us in the media that his contributions came from SO MANY DIFFERENT SMALL DONATIONS. But in actuality those contributions came from himself ? Keep an eye on him election day. How many times is he going into a voting booth ! Just kidding, but you catch my drift.
I know I am wordy. Sorry. I thank You all for your time.
