Special Opinion by Earl Schrag
Elaine Luria graduated from the Naval Academy and achieved the rank of Commander after a 20-year career. Scott Taylor completed SEAL training and became a sniper and instructor during his career. Thank you to both Elaine and Scott for their service and sacrifices for our country!
Unfortunately, a memorable line from the movie “Clear and Present Danger”, “Sniper approached … by being a sneaky bastard” rings true when you know that Scott Taylor and members of his campaign team provided money and collected signatures, some invalid, to allow the opponent whom Elaine defeated in the Democratic primary to run as an independent so that she could potentially take away votes from Elaine during this November’s election. Hopefully, citizens will not overlook and accept Scott Taylor’s actions from someone currently serving in Congress!
Scott Taylor claims he is an independent vote hast he has voted with President Trump 100% of the time and along party lines 98% dog the time. We need a representative who, like Elaine Luria, will vote for pre-existing health conditions and stand-up for all citizens.
Scott Taylor claims he is a leader, but he was an independent member of a small team while Elaine Luria was trained and performed as a leader of 400 members of the Navy.
The citizens of Virginia’s Second Congressional District need and deserve Elaine Luria, whose motto is “Be good! Do good work!” as our next member of the House of Representatives, not a “sneaky bastard”! Vote Elaine Luria in November!

It’s a shame that people believe everything they hear in a political ad paid for by companies and people not even in the Commonwealth. Please do some more research on what actually happened and not what Lying ads want you to think. Have some independent thought like you keep dreaming she has. She read from A notebook the entire debate last week and couldn’t answer questions that she could not find on the pages…. that is real independent thought there. Scott Taylor has done a great job in his first term and has been honorable in serving the District. Lies and money from the Left does not qualify someone to be in Congress. Vote Scott Taylor on November 6 …..
Jobs not Mobs

Funny thing is, in a normal political environment I would have considered voting for her, mainly because I like the idea that none of our politicians get complacent.
However, we are not in a normal political environment.
We have one party declaring that if they take the House they will immediately start impeachment proceedings not only against the president but also the newest justice on the SC.
Putting aside the president for a moment, it is deeply concerning that the Democrats would go after Kavanaugh , because the Constitution’s structure cautions against removing Supreme Court justices in any but the most extreme circumstances……..being a constitutionalist is NOT an extreme position, unless you’re a far left progressive.
Judges are meant to be independent of the people, instead, beholden to the Constitution.
Alexander Hamilton concluded that an independent judiciary comprised “the best expedient which can be devised in any government, to secure a steady, upright and impartial administration of the laws.”…..They would uphold the Constitution and statutes passed under it. And such steady, upright and impartial administration of law protected all persons against momentary fits of majority tyranny”.
In a nutshell, allowing easy, frequent removal of federal judges risks undermining a crucial constitutional safeguard. In effect, it places judges under the control of Congress, which means that without a will of their own, the judicial power would combine with the legislative. This is expressly opposite to what the founding fathers desired.
Now, if we bring in the president back into the conversation, it seems to me that attempting impeachment when they know it wouldn’t go anywhere in the Senate, where they would need 67 Senators’ approvals to remove the president, smacks of very poor judgement and shows more concern for their base’s approval than the welfare of the country.
So, though I’m not happy about it, I have to go with the idea that “any Republican is better than all Democrats”.

Of course there is.
Both as predicted, and as foretold!
And as Mr. Otton so brilliantly points about above, it is now a matter of positioning.
Efficient and effecatious focusing of intellectual gravity.
