Natural hazards do not discriminate between urban, suburban, or rural communities. However, when it comes to climate resilience and adaptation, rural communities are often left out of the conversation.
The goal of this listen and learn workshop is to bring together leaders from rural coastal communities across the Chesapeake Bay watershed to discuss their needs, challenges, and equity issues, as well as share some existing climate tools that link communities to funding opportunities. Participant feedback will be used to help the Mid-Atlantic RISA (MARISA) and other regional programs better serve rural communities with the resources they need to address local climate adaptation challenges.
The workshop is scheduled for July 13, 2022.
This event is free to attend but registration is required. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Travel support is available, contact Kelsey Ruckert (klr324@psu.edu), Coastal Climate Extension Specialist for more information.
