When Can I Get Vaccinated for Covid-19?

January 17, 2021 by Wayne Creed 22 Comments

Find out which phase of the vaccination campaign you fall in.

While the vaccine supply is limited, COVID-19 vaccine will be offered in phases. People who are more likely to have severe COVID-19 illness and workers that are essential to the functioning of society will be offered the vaccine in the earlier phases.

The Virginia Department of Health has created a website where you can register to receive information letting you know when you will be able to receive the COVID vaccine.

There is short survey that will establish your category and will enable the VDH to contact you by email and phone when the vaccine becomes available for that category.

You will receive an email or text with instructions on what you need to do to register to receive your vaccination.

To find out more and register, here is the link to the website.

“Dr. Fauci says Covid vaccines appear to be less effective against some new strains”

    Noah Higgins-Dunn @higginsdunn

    Published Thu, Jan 21 2021

New data shows that the Covid-19 vaccines currently on the market may not be as effective in guarding against new, more contagious strains of the coronavirus, White House health advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Thursday.

“Bottom line: We’re paying very close attention to it.”

Shocking Paul, just shocking. Amazingly enough, WHO just released guidance which was known 6 months ago by those willing to read… the PCR tests, which were never designed to diagnose Covid, produce a very high rate of false positives, especially as the number of cycles increase. WHO said PCR tests alone should not be used to diagnose a positive case. Has anyone here who tested positive but was asymptomatic asked their health care provider how many cycles of the PCR test were used before the result? Anything over 30 is most likely a false positive. Expect an amazing reduction in cases when this metric is applied.

I don’t know what’s all that shocking about it, to be truthful.

I was predicting this would happen months ago, and you didn’t need to be a rocket scientist like Fauci to know it was going to happen, given the flu does the same thing.

COVID is a predator; like any predator, it is always refining its tactics.

Do not expect the medical industry to tell us the truth with regards to something like this. They want more positives to generate excess fear and higher prices. I appreciate our medical industry very much for the life saving answers and quality of life help they provide us. I do not appreciate the stories they tell to increase their bottom line while taking advantage of the sick and their families. In the meantime, I did apparently call early on in the announcement tha covid vaccine is available here, or will be. I am a 1B farmer and will let you all know how I make out after I get my 1st vaccine shot on Thursday. If I have a reaction or become a socialist or anything that alters me negatively.

You do realize, don’t you, MJM, that to become immune, you need the second shot?

That first shot isn’t going to make you immune to COVID, it will just give you a false sense of security, thinking you are.

As to the vaccines making people into socialists, so far, Fauci is mum on that, but today it was reported that he is worried about delays to the second dose of Covid-19 vaccinations as governments stretch intervals to speed immunizations.

So when will you really be out of the woods, MJM?

AAAAGGGGGHHHHH !! goes the buzzer. But Thank You for playing Paul. Yeah I know I need a 2nd shot. I get my 1st one this Thursday and my second 28 days later if Ralph keeps the vaccinations rolling though. I won’t have any false sense of security at all. EVER. I look both ways before I walk across a street, and I bet you do too. That’s still no absolute gurantee that some democrat socalist won’t come careening down the street totally out of the ordinary control and hit me with their car. That’s life. I still cross. Don’t you ? As to when will I be out of the woods ? Unknown. I just know I am not going to hide in them. I am growing older but not up and I am headed for work, racetracks, restaurants and my old life again. I recommend it to all. President Biden’s basement scene is no life at all for me. I’m going down swinging.

“Bearish EIA Inventory Report Sends Oil Prices Lower”

    By Irina Slav

    Jan 22, 2021

The International Energy Agency earlier this week added fuel to the concerns, revising down its oil demand outlook for this year by 300,000 bpd.

The authority said it expected demand to average 96.6 million bpd in 2021, after crashing by an all-time high of 8.8 million bpd in 2020 under the weight of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The agency was upbeat about the second half of the year, however, noting that mass vaccination should spur economic recovery, which will in turn boost oil prices.

Nothing is certain, however, as the WHO has meanwhile warned that vaccinations are not a silver bullet solution to the pandemic problem with is chief suggesting social distancing measures will likely stay in place despite vaccinations.

“CDC quietly changes Covid vaccine guidance to OK mixing Pfizer and Moderna shots in ‘exceptional situations’”

    Will Feuer @WillFOIA

    Published Fri, Jan 22 2021

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention quietly changed its guidance on Covid-19 vaccine shots, saying it’s now OK to mix Pfizer’s and Moderna’s shots in “exceptional situations” and that it’s also fine to wait up to six weeks to get the second shot of either company’s two-dose immunization.

The agency says the two products are not interchangeable, and acknowledged that it hadn’t yet studied whether its new recommendations would change the safety or effectiveness of either vaccine.

Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, was asked Friday about the interval at which the two shots should be administered.

“The data that we have is on a two-dose vaccine at the recommended schedule, 21 or 28 days,” she said at a virtual event hosted by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and National Public Radio.

“At this point we at CDC agree with what FDA has said and FDA has been very clear that we should be using the approved regimen.”

“It’s rooted solidly in the science and the available evidence, and to do something different than that would be not following the science and potentially not allowing us to really realize the full potential of these vaccines,” she said.

“So for now, from the CDC perspective, we think that it has to be two doses on the recommended schedule.”

The updated guidance comes as some cities and counties across the country are canceling vaccine appointments because they don’t have as many doses as they originally expected.

Wayne County, Michigan, for example, said last week it would prioritize making sure that people who got their first shot get their second shot on time.

But the county said it had to cancel almost 1,400 appointments for people to get their first shot.

Delays in COVID-19 vaccine production have snowballed into a spat between Britain, the European Union and drugmakers over how best to direct limited supplies.

AstraZeneca Plc offered eight million more doses of its COVID-19 vaccine to the European Union after it unexpectedly announced supply cuts last week.

But the bloc said that was far short of what was originally promised, an EU official told Reuters on Friday.

New variants of the novel coronavirus have prolonged lockdowns and delayed expectations of an economic rebound.

Hey All, I forgot to follow up on my post about my covid19 shot. I guess I did so because it went so totally routine. It was a shot like any other shot to me. I had no pain. No stiffness of the area. No muscle soreness. No redness. Nothing.

Nothing meaning I believe I have developed a better immunity to silly questions Paul. You know that my entire post is a reference to no adverse reaction. Are you playing the role of a liberal progressive here and trying to spread fear ? Excuse me but I’m simply reporting the facts about my shot. This report may help some be more comfortable when going to get the shot they already plan to get. You’d rather fill them with anxiety ?

Whether or not someone is so out of control of their emotions as to be anxious about this, that, or some other thing, and my goodness, MJM, but isn’t America chock-a-block with them today, with at least half of the population deemed mentally ill, and that was before COVID and all the fear mongering, is neither something I have control over, nor is it something I myself get anxious about.

And by goodness, MJM, but aren’t we a bit touchy today?

I asked you about as simple a question to answer that there could be, in order to put people’s minds at rest about the shot, and somehow that triggered something in you that resulted in a tirade about liberals in America being out-of-touch with reality, which as an aside, a premise I won’t argue with, but MJM, by going off on that tirade instead of hitting the softball I pitched you by saying something like “yes, I could feel the immunity coursing through my veins in the very first minute!”

That is what I would have said to quell people’s obvious fears about something slammed into production like this was.

By avoiding answering the question, MJM, as you have done, I think you have made people more anxious than they would be than if I had answered the question.

Maybe you could undo that by simply telling people, “yup, had the shot, no big thing, like every other shot I have ever gotten, didn’t make me cry or anything, and now I feel great and no longer have anxiety about COVID!”

See how simple this should be?

I think you have me confused with someone else Paul. I don’t think my response to you could possibly be labelled a tirade simply due to the fact that it’s only 5 sentences. Toss in the facts that 1 of the sentences is an apology, and another 2 are questions. If it’s a tirade it’s the shortest one in history. I made no comment about 1/2 the population being anxious, but only asked if you wanted to send some folks to an anxious place. As far as not answering your question…. I think I had already answered it both in the first and second post using almost the exact same words you did. I never took your question to be a softball one. Having seen all your prior posts, and knowing your knowledge of the medical field is so much more extensive than mine, I knew that you knew I can’t judge the effectiveness of the vaccine yet. I just knew it was routine, wasn’t a sore area etc etc as I stated. Therefore I thought I already had set all minds at ease. If you want to see it again, “Hey Folks ! Put your minds at ease. Getting that 1st covid shot is no big deal. A piece of cake. A walk in the park. Just another inoculation like any other inoculation with no adverse reaction that now I settle into enjoying the confidence that it will do it’s job”.

As an aside, if you really want to capture the audience of older men out there, you could always throw in some stuff about how it not only put some spring back in your step, but lead in the pencil as well, like nothing you could believe, so throw away that Viagra and get the shot!

It is terrible what is going on here John with the supply of the vaccines. As usual, our government is having a great deal of difficulty keeping things straight. I’m sure it’s not the local boots on the ground staff at our medical centers, but vaccines are just not getting delivered to arms because not enough supply is coming fast enough. I am over 65 and an aquaculture farmer. I’m in the 1B category. The very next day after Gov. Ralph announced that 1B folks could now get shots I called Rural Health. They told me I was wrong and they would not sign me up yet. To myself I said “okay maybe there’s a little lag time built into being able to get ready”, and I called back the next day and got my 2 appointments. Apparently I simply needed to let Rural Health have a day to get ready. So, I got lucky I think/hope and just made a call sooner than you. I can also tell you Rural Health is pumping out the shots every 15 minutes and right through lunch hour. They were also very pleasant and professional. Wouldn’t let anxious folks jump line. Held appointments properly etc. It is hard for rural health to make more appointments than for vaccines promised obviously. The one suggestion I can make, is that I now see in the 1/29 E.S. Post that I think locally we are being told more vaccine is coming than originally thought. So, MAYBE if that is the case, you could call Rural Health back and ask if more vaccine supply is being promised, MAYBE they can now slot you and your wife into a sooner appointment ? That may be worth a call if you are anxious for the vaccine. Good Luck.

And here is where my experience as a public health engineer and public health educator in a rural county much like something found in Appalachia or some third-world country comes into play when trying to get out the word on getting vaccinated with the COVID vaccine.

Regardless of how smart you might be, the fact is, you have to speak to the comprehension level of the target audience.

So here is how I would do it if I were Fauci, which I’m glad I’m not:

    LISTEN UP, DUDES!

LISTEN TO THE ******* SCIENCE, WON’T YOU!

    THIS COVID IS BAD ****!

IF YOU CATCH IT, THE LIKLIHOOD IS THAT IT IS GOING TO TAKE ALL OF THE TURGID OUT OF YOUR TURGID SPEAR AND LEAVE YOU WITH A FLACCID PIECE OF WORTHLESS STRING IN ITS PLACE AND ALL THE VIAGRA IN THE WORLD ISN’T GOING TO HELP YOU THEN!

SO DON’T BE STUPID, DUDES – DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET THE SHOT!

(See how simple that was, MJM!)
