The Northampton County Education Foundation (NCEF) will fund a tutoring program initiated by Northampton Boys Varsity Basketball Coach, Wayne Bell, to improve the scholastic performance of his team members. This program follows in the footsteps of Northampton High School wrestling Coach Matt Evans, who instituted mandatory tutoring for his team members last year. Coach Bell requires all 26 team members to attend academic tutoring after school prior to practice. Northampton High School chemistry teacher, Mr. George Chandler, will provide the tutoring for this academic year. The grant was made available by a donation that was specifically earmarked for the basketball tutoring program. Other Northampton High coaches can request the tutoring services provided the funds are available. The NCEF invites individuals and business partners to make donations to help expand this program so that more Northampton High School students can benefit from academic tutoring.
The NCEF is a 501(c)(3) organization devoted to enriching the educational experience of all children in Northampton County public schools and is legally structured to offer tax deductible donations for this and many other programs. Visit our web site at ncedufoundation.com to learn more about our mission. Please make your donations payable to NCEF, PO Box 323, Cape Charles, VA 23310, and specify which team you wish to support. All inquires about the Foundation and its programs should be sent to communications chair Andy Teeling at aeteeling@verizon.net.
