Old Cape Charles School is back on the market. Originally purchased for $10, the current set of apartments is now up for sale. According to the realty company, One South Commercial, “prospective buyers can decide whether to run the property as the only multifamily investment in the Cape Charles Historic District, convert the units to condominiums for sale at a market-making price point, or enjoy the considerable rewards of the short term rental business”.
Currently, the price is proprietary and the dissemination of the information regarding is property is not publically available.

It’s for sale but none of the information necessary for buyer due diligence is not available?
Only in Cape Charles
Note: You have to sign some kind of NDA or waiver, promising not to divulge information about the sale.
Is that because maybe some of the town folks involved in making the decision to sell back then may have benefited from the $10 sale in some way? Does said owner have silent partners from town of CC? Just a thought… .
There wasn’t anything illegal with the sale, give it up.
again, Who died and left you in charge?
This is disturbing, on many levels. Promising not to divulge information about the sale?! WTH is going on.
The town council/manager sales the high school after they rebuild one of the walls for 40k, then sales it for $10.00. And now it’s going for sale, but whoever buys it can not give any details about the sale!
Could it be, someone in Cape Charles government sold this property to a business associate, only to sit on the property for a couple of years. Then sale it back to the town for kick backs worth millions, …
This way, the town council can tell its citizens. They saved millions by not building a new municipal building.
I’m only thinking this, because the town council has no good sound business judgment.
This sounds awfully strange.
Or maybe the owner of the high school is taking the money and run.
Just another fine business practice the town council and manager has made for the people of Cape Charles.
You just can’t fix stupid in this town.
Doug, the town divested themselves of the property quite a while ago, get over it. It’s in private hands now
Private and unknown raises a lot of questions.
Who died and left you in charge?
Mr. Wheaton,
Maybe you’re right. Maybe I need to get over it. However, everytime the people on the council make stupid decisions, for the people of Cape Charles, I will voice my opinions and call them out for it.
There was nothing legal about the sale of the high school.
Dora Sullivan and the council, secretly meet with Echenlon developers to sell it. Nothing legal about that. There was no public input to the reservation of a PUBLIC building. Which was paid for by the “PUBLIC”. There was No notification to the public about open bidding on the property.
If you believe everything was legal about this sale, that is your opinion.
My opinion is, I believe something is amiss and needs to be investigated by the Attorney General’s office.
Everything about the sale of this property has to be reported. Why hide who buys it, if everything is legal? And if there was anyone from the pervious Mayor or town council involved, there will be a conflict of interest.
Which means, they misrepresented the people of Cape Charles for their own interests (Fraud, to financial or personal gain).
As I mentioned before, the town council has not made any brilliant decisions for the town other than their own interests.
How about that reverse parking, who was behind that( Dora)? What happened to the simple repairs to the water fountain? Sounds pity doesn’t it?
Ok let move to the sale of the water utilities. Not so pity now, huh.
Now let’s look at Virginia code 15.2- 2306.
Who does all this benefit? Not Cape Charles. How about those people in Bay Creek? How about the developers and current owners of Bay Creek and their contract obligations? Is Bay Creek being investigated by the Federal government?
Yes, the sale of the high school was nearly 10 years ago. And the town also provided a tax break for 10 years for owners of property in Cape Charles, it was called renovation tax break.
Just saying, it doesn’t sound right. But then again, you just can’t fix stupid!
