I thank the Cape Charles Mirror for this opportunity to present my platform as I seek a seat on Northampton’s Board of Supervisors representing District 5. I am a native Eastern Shoreman and bring over 25 years of managerial experience to the Board having enjoyed success in both the private and public sectors. My most recent success has been serving as the Town Manager of Exmore where working with the Mayor, Town Council and citizens we have delivered balanced budgets with sound fiscal footing, improved employee morale, and delivered a new sense of optimism for the town. I hope to bring this success to our beloved county.
My goal upon election is to listen to the citizens of our county and to deliver responsible government.
Responsible government consists of several factors including:
Restoring citizen trust and confidence in our county’s fiscal management,
Promoting growth by building upon our strengths, heritage, and core industries,
Protecting and preserving our natural resources including our fragile aquifer,
Working with our school leaders to ensure that education becomes a cornerstone of our economic recovery,
Ensuring that land use regulations reflect the will and desires of the majority of the residents of Northampton County, and
Rebuilding the relationship between the county and its incorporated towns.
These are major goals and will require a great deal of engagement by a large number of people to accomplish and fulfill. A county supervisor’s goal should be to listen to all constituents with an open mind, give the county administration concrete goals and objectives, implement policies that are reflective of the goals and desires of the county’s citizenry, and to market our county in an aggressive and positive manner. I look forward to working with all citizens and businesses of Northampton County upon my election November 3.
Again, thank you to the Cape Charles Mirror for the opportunity.

Robert, Thanks for outlining your plan as Supervisor and taking steps to work out fair solutions to problems facing all Northampton County citizens. My hope is that this message reaches the constituents of District 5 in particular. His experience and record of rooting out government waste, safeguarding taxpayer dollars, supporting initiatives that spur economic growth and advocating fiscal responsibility should be the benchmark that all officials are measured by. Thanks for coming forward with your message.

Editor’s Note: If Mr. Pruit’s complaint is with the format of this posting, The Mirror takes full responsibility, since we took Mr. Duer’s letter, formatted it to be as close as we thought intended, and then published it. If not, then well, let it ride…
I don’t know about your skills as a supervisor, but your skills at copying and pasting need some help.
