Everything the social justice warrior sees is inherently political. They can’t control the rage and just feel a need to impose their view on every aspect of life.
A writer from the children’s show Sesame Street now claims that Bert and Ernie are gay lovers. Sesame Street? Can puppets have a sexual orientation?
Mark Saltzman, who wrote for the show from 1984 to 1998, said during an interview with Queerty Magazine that he always considered Bert and Ernie a “loving couple.”
Somebody help us!
Saltzman, who of course is gay, said:
I always felt that without a huge agenda, when I was writing Bert & Ernie, they were. I didn’t have any other way to contextualize them. The other thing was, more than one person referred to Arnie & I as ‘Bert & Ernie.’
Help is on the way. The officials from Sesame Street stepped in with this statement:
As we have always said, Bert and Ernie are best friends. They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics (as most ‘Sesame Street’ Muppets do), they remain puppets, and do not have sexual orientation.
In a nation that seems chock-a-block with ridiculousness and outright absurdity, which seems to be the hallmark of America today – the absurd nation – this thing of Bert and Ernie being gay lovers has to be up near the top of the list.
