The Historic Cokesbury Cultural Center will continue its Free Concert Series this summer with a performance by soprano Anna Sterrett on Saturday, June 13, at 7 p.m.
The concert, titled “Nostalgie,” will take place at the Historic Cokesbury Cultural Center, located at 13 Market Street in Onancock. Donations will be welcomed to support the ongoing concert series.
The program explores themes of memory, longing and connection to the past through classical vocal works. Sterrett said the songs were selected “because of their connection to the past, whether a longing for homeland, lost love, or childhood.”
The evening’s repertoire will feature selections from several renowned composers, including Grothe’s “Lied der Nachtigall,” Grieg’s “Sechs Lieder,” Barber’s “Summer of 1915,” and Dvořák’s “Gypsy Songs,” along with additional works by Debussy, Poulenc and Britten.
The performance is sponsored by Sarah Nock.
Organizers say the Free Concert Series is designed to bring high-quality musical performances to the Eastern Shore community while highlighting the historic venue in downtown Onancock.
