During Town Council comments at Thursday’s Regular Meeting, Vice-Mayor Chris Bannon stated that during the last several months, Central Park has been under siege.
“The gazebo has been…the railing has been kicked out by some, well “urchins”. They have also been taking rocks and throwing them at the lights, trying to break the globes, which cost over $200 a piece.”
Bannon also stated that many people are not picking up after their dogs and that the park has become infested with unmanageable piles of dog feces.
Bannon recommended that council entertain the idea of purchasing surveillance cameras as a way to catch the criminals in the act. Bannon also mentioned that some localities had instituted a policy of using photographic evidence combined with DNA taken from the offending fecal matter to catch and prosecute people that do not pick up after their dogs.
The Mirror took a cursory stroll around the perimeter of Central Park and did find five abandoned piles of dog feces. However, while walking the dogs in another part of town, two of the three began rolling in something which turned out to be human feces. Not picking up after our dogs is one thing, but if people are not even going to pick up after themselves, we are in real trouble.
I totally agree with Chris. I think really good cameras are a necessity (so the offenders can be identified). Skate boards are in the gazebo banging away on a random basis, teenagers have been observed kicking down the fence around the playground and of course the dog poop volume is getting worse. I notice the chains around the fountain are also down most of the time. Also, it would help if the public knew what the process is for notification if they observe vandalism. If a response is not immediate, the kids are gone by the time someone comes to check. Just telling kids to “stop that” doesn’t work (from my experience). It would also put ‘meat’ into the vandalism penalty if the town had a strict ordnance and fine for destruction and be willing to prosecute. (maybe there is an ordnance already?) We’ve worked hard to improve the town and it is disheartening to have folks deliberately destroy the progress we’ve made.

Why not say its the black kids? Is that racist? Liberal PC has made stating of facts IMPOSSIBLE. THE liberal politicians of this country are bought off or cuckolded sissys that can only lead a dummy to its demise

Do Better Ron says
Do you know how ignorant, uneducated, and BLATANTLY RACIST you sound? It’s the fact that you’re so engulfed in your privilege that you have to ask “is that racist?”, after saying something so controversial with NO EVIDENCE to back this claim. Absolutely disgusting. Shame on you Ron your life is a racist shit show and it wreaks from miles away.
Todd Holden says
Racism is an attitude that takes place in one’s mind. Discrimination is an overt act that takes place in the real world. I am willing to bet that your brother, Ron has no way to discriminate against anyone and if he tried, the courts are stacked against him.
So please stop with the racist, racism nonsense. That horse can no longer stand up, as you and many before you have rode it close to death. Shame on you for using group-think.
Then, right on cue, you go to Privilege (white, no doubt) That only exist in the minds of those that repeat it. Of course there is no such thing as white privilege. The phrase was invented to explain away black failures in this ‘white man’s’ system. Their failure was predictable well before forced integration was created in 1964.

Some great lines in there, dude!
You have a great future ahead of you as a speech writer for someone important like Joe Biden, or Nancy Pelosi, who would be positively gaga about that line “your life is a racist shit show,” which I am sure she would have included in her latest impeachment charges against Trump if only you had posted it earlier before Trump left as more reasons for her to impeach Trump, as if that deranged woman didn’t already have enough of her own that she in vented by pulling them out of her *** where she keeps all her really important stuff stored for safe keeping.
But would “reeks” perhaps work better in there, do you think?

If you observe “kids” damaging the park…whip out that cell phone and snap a photo or 2.
