  1. I love the song and the message behind the story. I am a wandering soul as is my husband. I lived in the same town all of my childhood, rarely leaving even for vacation. I went away to college and lived there for four years. I then made a list of all the places I would like to live and set out to do so. I would go to the area with no job, no place to live and quickly find both and would enjoy making friends while contributing my piece to the economy. It was a great way to see America and grow up. I got increasingly better at it and so now in my 50’s when I wanted to find a final spot to land I was thrilled to find the ES of VA and specifically Cape Charles. I found a job to go with and moved two years ago. Of all the places I have lived this is the very best. I am so glad I saved it for last! I am a Come Here and Stay Here!

  2. Well, that was a surprise to see my name in this article along with reference to a column I wrote five years ago. The actual name of my Shore Thing piece was “Tom Savage Was a Come-Here” (Tom Savage being the first white settler in these parts). Upon re-reading the column I believe it’s a lot more upbeat than characterized above.
