CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Historic District Review Board will meet Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 5 p.m. to consider several applications for Certificates of Appropriateness from property owners seeking approval for home improvements and new construction.
At 108 Monroe Ave., Elizabeth and James Sutphen are requesting permission to replace the front and back wood flooring of their single-family home with TimberTech composite decking.
Another application, filed by Edmund Pickup and Lynda Whitehead for 552 Monroe Ave. and represented by Jesse Philpot of Philpot Construction LLC, seeks approval to replace the existing flat lock tin roof on the home’s porches with architectural shingles.
Benjamin and Charlotte Whitney, at 216 Washington Ave., are requesting approval to enlarge an attic window and add a side golf cart driveway to their residence.
Martine Richardson, operating as Legacy Holds II LLC, has submitted a proposal for multiple renovations at 116 Pine St. Plans include reopening the enclosed front porch, replacing the shingle roof, repairing and reinstalling the existing doors, repairing or sealing the wood siding, refinishing windows, and building a rear second-floor deck.
The board will also review a new construction request from Richard Sasso and Maria Aillon for a property identified as tax map #83A1-1-20 on Washington Avenue. Represented by Altruistic Design, the proposal includes building a two-story single-family home with an accessory structure, as well as installing a driveway, walkway, patio, enclosed outdoor shower, and fencing.
The board’s decisions are required for exterior changes in the town’s historic district.
