Baltimore’s Safe Streets Director shot in the head
Dante Barksdale, an anti-gun violence activist who worked as the director of Baltimore’s Safe Streets program, is dead after being shot in the head.
According to a Monday report from the New York Post, Barksdale was visiting a local public housing project when an as-yet unidentified gunman opened fire and struck him in the head.
Barksdale, who worked as the director for the city’s Safe Streets campaign for more than a decade, was rushed to nearby Johns Hopkins Hospital early Sunday morning, where officials pronounced him dead.
A few weeks earlier, Barksdale completed a project where he had delivered winter coats to families at the very same housing project where he lost his life.
A police spokesperson told the NY Post, “The investigation is ongoing and we have no further updates to provide at this time.”
Kid Rock Trashes Liberals of ‘Deprogramming’ comments
Everybody enjoying all the unity yet?
On Thursday, conservative rocker/rapper Kid Rock tweeted, “Just to be clear and follow up … THESE FAR LEFT SOCIALIST LIBERALS AND MEDIA CAN DE-PROGRAM DEEZ NUTZ!! Everyone else, have a great weekend! —Kid Rock.”
He also shared a meme with the tweet featuring a photo of himself on a jaunty walk, which was captioned, “Headed to deprogramming to woop some ass.”
What prompted his remarks?
First, former Democratic presidential nominee and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) both questioned whether the United States should craft a “9/11-type commission” in order to determine whether Trump was colluding with Russian President Vladimir Putin” on the day of the U.S. Capitol raid.
“But we now know that not just [Trump] but his enablers, his accomplices, his cult members, have the same disregard for democracy,” Clinton recently said to Pelosi.
Over the last several weeks, a variety of people have suggested that Trump voters should be “deprogrammed.”
In November, David Atkins, California Democrats regional director and DNC member, tweeted, “No seriously … how *do* you deprogram 75 million people. Where do you start? Fox? Facebook? We have to start thinking in terms of post-WWII Germany or Japan. Or the failures of Reconstruction in the South.”
Eugene Robinson, a Washington Post columnist and MSNBC analyst, recently issued similar remarks, “[T]here are millions of Americans, almost all white, almost all Republicans, who somehow need to be deprogrammed. It’s as if they are members of a cult, the Trumpets cult, and have to be deprogrammed. Do you have any idea how we start that process, much less complete it?”
Even former NBC anchor Katie Couric said, “The question is, how are we going to really almost deprogram these people who have signed up for the cult of Trump?”
After crapping on Americans, Amazon offers to help Biden
Amazon offered the Biden administration vaccine distribution assistance with its vast trove of nationwide resources moments after President Joe Biden was sworn into office on Wednesday. Amazon, the company said, was “ready to assist” with the new president’s goal to vaccinate 100 million Americans in the first 100 days of the new administration.
“We are prepared to leverage our operations, information technology, and communications capabilities and expertise to assist your administration’s vaccination efforts,” Amazon’s CEO for worldwide consumer business Dave Clark wrote. “Our scale allows us to make a meaningful impact immediately in the fight against COVID-19.”
Across the country, while localities have remained locked down, declaring livelihoods built on small businesses to be “nonessential,” corporations such as Amazon thrived in the elite-driven pandemic.
Amazon refused to say whether the company had given the Trump administration the same offer it gave Biden Wednesday, though Trump officials told Fox News that the previous White House, which conducted the Operation Warp Speed, was given no such letter proposing assistance.
Which lives did “staying home” save?
There was a large increase in 2020 for deaths at home among ages 15-44. And it wasn’t COVID.
It suggests staying home didn’t save lives. Huge rises in every age group except the youngest. Not attributable to COVID. Even considering the yearly rises in deaths at home, this year is at least 150K+ what we’d expect.
15-20% increase in Suicides (US not reporting Average from Other Countries) 48K in US Annually = 7,200 to 9,600 additional suicides could be expected. The young will be most affected.

Eastern Shore Health District Will Expand COVID-19 Vaccination to “Phase 1b” Recipients
(Accomac, Va.) – Beginning Wednesday, January 13, the Virginia Department of Health’s Eastern Shore Health District (ESHD), in partnership with Eastern Shore Rural Health System, Inc. (ESRHS) and Riverside Medical Group (Riverside), will begin to provide COVID-19 vaccines to additional groups of recipients identified as “Phase 1b.” These include police, fire and hazmat response personnel, those 75 or over, childcare/K-12 teachers and staff, those living and working in correctional facilities, homeless shelters and migrant labor camps, food, agriculture and aquaculture workers, manufacturers, grocery store workers, public transit workers, and mail carriers (USPS and private).
“We have nearly completed the first round of Phase 1a vaccinations. We will now be focusing on Phase 1b, prioritizing those at highest risk for negative health outcomes and members of our community with the highest risk of exposure,” said Chief Operating Officer Jon Richardson, of the Eastern Shore Health District.
Many Phase 1b recipients will get their vaccine through clinics where they work or live and do not need to seek vaccine independently. For those age 75 and over, please contact your primary care provider to schedule an appointment to receive your vaccine. If you are 75 years of age or over and do not have a primary care provider, ESRHS will give you a vaccine. ESRHS will start making appointments today, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 and Riverside will start making appointments on Thursday, January, 14, 2021. Over the next several weeks, ESHD will be contacting smaller and independent businesses and anyone NOT affiliated with a clinic at work or where they live and in Phase 1b to set one up for you.
For many weeks now, ESHD has been collaborating with our partners at Riverside and ESRHS to deliver vaccines to the Eastern Shore community. That work will continue as we strive to get vaccines administered as quickly and safely as possible. We anticipate it will take several weeks to work our way through vaccinating Phase1b individuals while simultaneously administering the second dose to 1a individuals.
If you are an individual who falls into one of the Phase 1b groups identified by type of employment, please seek information from your employer for your vaccination plan. Employers falling into 1b who do not have a plan in place yet for your employees and have not heard from ESHD may contact us at 757-787-5880 to coordinate a vaccination clinic for your employees.
Receiving the vaccine for COVID-19 does not mean life goes back to pre-pandemic times. It is still extremely important to wear a mask, social distance and practice good hand hygiene. Even after receiving the vaccine, it will remain important to continue masking, maintaining social distancing and avoiding crowded areas until we see case counts drop in the coming months and public health authorities indicate it is safe to relax protective measures.
We ask that you be patient with us as we work through the priority groups and get to each person who desires vaccination as soon as possible; we are devoting every available resource to this effort. We are aware of the announcement yesterday by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and those recommendations are currently under review at the state level.
