CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Police Department responded to a wide range of calls for service over the past week, according to a report presented by Police Chief Jim Pruitt.
In addition to routine law enforcement duties such as building checks, traffic enforcement, code violation investigations and foot patrols, officers handled numerous calls across the community.
Emergency medical assistance accounted for the largest category of responses, with officers assisting EMS on six occasions. Police also responded to a vehicle accident, a residential alarm, a reported larceny, a harassment complaint, and an assault in progress.
Other calls included two noise complaints, a welfare check, a suspicious vehicle report, a neighbor dispute, and an e-bike complaint. Officers also provided traffic control, assisted citizens on four occasions, investigated a vehicle blocking a driveway, and responded to a 911 hang-up call.
The department additionally assisted outside agencies during the week, including providing translation services for the Virginia State Police and assisting the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel Police.
Police officials said the weekly report reflects the broad range of services officers provide beyond traditional crime response, including public safety assistance, community support and interagency cooperation throughout the region.
The weekly activity report is part of the department’s ongoing effort to keep residents informed about public safety operations and community policing efforts in Cape Charles.
