CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Town of Cape Charles will hold municipal elections on Nov. 3, with voters set to choose a mayor and three members of the Town Council.
Residents interested in running for office must be citizens of the town and file the required candidacy paperwork by 7 p.m. on June 16, 2026.
To declare candidacy, prospective candidates must complete the Certificate of Candidate Qualification – Local Offices and the Declaration of Candidacy. Completed forms must be submitted to the Northampton County Voter Registration office, located at 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville.

Hard copies of the required forms are also available through the Cape Charles Town Clerk’s office at 412 Tazewell Avenue.
Additional candidacy requirements and filing guidance are available through the Virginia Department of Elections, which has published a candidate bulletin with step-by-step instructions for local office filings.
The deadline to register to vote or update an existing registration is October 23, 2026.
The first day of in-person early voting at the Northampton County Voter Registration office is September 18, 2026.
The deadline to apply for a ballot to be mailed to you is October 23, 2026. Your request must be received by the Northampton County Voter Registration office by 5:00 p.m.
