MELFA, Va. (AP) — Eastern Shore Community College (ESCC) is in the early stages of forming new soccer teams for both men and women. School officials are turning to the community for help in naming it. While details are still forthcoming, including the search for a head coach, ESCC has launched an online survey to gather creative name suggestions for the team.

In keeping with the school’s “YES!” culture, the team is intended to reflect the spirit of the Eastern Shore, and college leaders are eager to involve the public in the process. “This is a team for the Eastern Shore, and we want the name to resonate with our community,” a college representative said.
Prizes, yet to be announced, will be awarded to the individual who submits the winning name. ESCC encourages everyone to participate in the survey and follow updates for more details on the new team and other developments.
Eastern Shore Community College is located in Melfa, Virginia, and serves the surrounding rural region. The new soccer team is part of an effort to expand the college’s athletic and extracurricular programs.
