On Tuesday, the Mighty Earth ‘Clean It Up, Tyson’ Campaign held a Poster-Making Event and Press Conference in Onancock, Virginia. Twenty people came out today to listen to featured speakers and discuss why Tyson Foods should commit to the #CleanItUpTyson goal.

In Springdale, Arkansas, citizens gathered outside the Annual Tyson Shareholders Meeting where shareholders voted on a resolution asking the company to adopt a comprehensive water stewardship policy. Virginia Eastern Shorekeeper Jay Ford spoke on behalf of the Eastern Shore and the pollution we face from Tyson. Yet despite citizen outcry from across the nation, Tyson Shareholders (72% of which are within the Tyson family) rejected the proposal.
So what’s next?
‘We Call Fowl’ on Tyson! It’s time that they listen to the concerns of communities and stakeholders. We will continue to pressure the company from multiple angles.
Mighty Earth ‘Clean It Up, Tyson’ Campaign next meetings:
Tuesday, Feb 13th at 5pm at the Historic Onancock School.
At this meeting we will discuss our upcoming Restaurant Coalition Press Event and make phone calls to Tyson Headquarters.
Thursday, Feb 15th at 10am, Small Business Canvassing in Cape Charles.
Do you live in Cape Charles or frequent any of the restaurants there? We will visit the Cape to canvass local businesses and invite them to sign our Restaurant Coalition Letter. Afterwards we will get lunch in town.
