Bay Creek: A Southern Living Inspired Community

January 30, 2016 by Wayne Creed 1 Comment

Southern-Living-Inspired-Community2Editor’s Note: This old news, but we at the Mirror have not reported it. Here is the official Press Release from Southern living back in November.

Cape Charles, VA (November 19, 2015) – We’re proud to announce that Bay Creek has been designated by Southern Living magazine as a Southern Living Inspired Community, Bay Creek joins a prestigious group consisting of only 15 of the country’s premier communities.

The magazine’s Inspired Communities program is a hand-picked collection of communities that celebrate the best of Southern traditions, including exceptional architecture, superior landscaping and a commitment to environmental stewardship, according to Kristen Bryan, Southern Living, Associate Marketing Director, “Bay Creek exemplifies the highest standards of community development,” she said. “We’re pleased to welcome them as the newest Southern Living Inspired Community.”

Bay Creek’s selection was announced at the annual Southern Living Inspired Community Symposium in Chattanooga, TN on November 1-3.

Linda Buskey, Director of Sales for Bay Creek, was joined at the event by representatives from other communities in the elite club, along with world-class architects, designers, land planners and homebuilders. “Earning this recognition from the number one publication on the Southern lifestyle is an incredible honor,” she said. “And the perfect way to cap off an unbelievably successful year for Bay Creek.”

Buskey said the Southern Living designation was actually over a decade in the making. “From our founding in 2001, we’ve dedicated ourselves to making Bay Creek one of the leading communities in the country,” said Buskey. “It’s truly gratifying to see all the hard work pay off,” she said.

Congratulations on this truly prestigious award. I drove through the Bayside Village community yesterday and the “Ideal Living” homes are shaping up nicely. It’s gratifying to see the architectural components are compatible with the beautiful homes in the Historic District, not just more Outer Banks-style McMansions. I also noticed several new homes have either recently been constructed or are currently being built in Bay Creek. This new construction coupled with all the rehab projects in the town bodes well for the entire area. To me, that’s the REAL freedom of the Shore: you can live a rural life in the County, or the camaraderie of neighbors in the Town, or the amenities of Bay Creek. Truly, there is something for everyone!
