CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Code Official has released an update on the department’s activities over the past month, highlighting a range of inspections, permits, and planning reviews.
According to the report, the Code Official performed a total of 34 inspections and issued 22 permits. Additionally, one rental inspection application was processed, and two rental inspections were conducted.
The department also reviewed and approved plans for new homes in three different communities: Marina Village East, Muirfield Village, and Bayside Village. Permits for these new constructions have been issued, marking a significant step forward in local development.
In preparation for the Community Rating System Annual recertification, which is due in August, the Code Official has been diligently working on the necessary documentation and requirements.
Collaboration with the Zoning Administrator has been a key focus, particularly regarding potential new commercial developments in the area. This included meetings to discuss prospective projects and their compliance with local zoning laws.
Moreover, the department received correspondence related to demolition by neglect letters sent out two weeks ago. Property owners have expressed a desire to meet and discuss the necessary steps to address the violations cited in these letters.
