CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Progress has been made regarding the demolition by neglect status at 1 Fig Street. The property owner has submitted a letter and a copy of a contract for architectural services aimed at roofing and enclosing the structure, including doors, windows, and walls.
Code Official Jeb Brady engaged in a discussion with the owner to clarify the scope of work outlined in the contract. They requested additional information, including a detailed timeline for the project and evidence of financial assurance to cover the contract’s value. The owner has committed to providing the required information by the July 2024, deadline.
Town officials will review the submitted details to confirm compliance and monitor the progress closely.
A classic Cape Charles landmark. It needs to be utilized and preserved for sure.
