Cape Charles, Va. — The Cape Charles Public Works Department has been actively addressing several safety and maintenance issues around town, according to the Public Works Manager. Recent efforts have focused on improving the community trail and maintaining key areas throughout the town.
One of the significant updates includes work on the community trail along Washington Avenue, where two high ridges have been ground down to enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Additionally, the department has identified a tree in the same area that needs removal, with quotes for this work already being gathered.
In other maintenance efforts, the department has obtained quotes for various brick and paver jobs around town, with more bids currently being collected to ensure the best value for the community. The team also reinstalled a highway sign on Route 13, ensuring clear and safe navigation for drivers.
On the beachfront, the Public Works team worked to clear sand from the fishing pier, a necessary task to keep the area accessible for both locals and visitors. Additionally, the beach was thoroughly swept, with the team dedicating four hours to this task on Thursday, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy.
