Festive Friday a Huge Success: Next Event Dec 4th
This Black Friday, the sidewalks were filled with shoppers, and the outside tables of the Cape Charles Coffee house were at capacity. In the evening, music filled the air, and many folks were out enjoying the beautiful night air as shops stayed open to 8:00. The Palace showed the film White Christmas, which was a perfect way to send off our first Festive Friday. This first event was an unqualified success, and there are three more Festive Friday’s on the way. Next Friday, December 4th, Peg Volk’s Corn Funk Review will take the Strawberry Street Stage from 5:00 to 8:00, shops will again be open late, and the film at the Palace will be ‘Elf’.
Deathtrap at North Street Playhouse
Deathtrap is a play written by Ira Levin in 1978, and with its many plot twists and the way in which it references itself as a play within a play, almost becomes a caricature of itself, a thriller within a thriller. Deathtrap holds the record for the longest running comedy-thriller on Broadway, running for four years with almost 1800 performances. The published script describes it as “something so evil that it infects all who touch it. The thing has a life of its own. In Deathtrap, Levin has taken the basic components of thrillers and horror stories; murder, deceit, innocent dialogue with hidden sinister meanings, plot reversals, unexpected turns of events, etc., and twisted and rearranged the pieces again and again.” [Read more…]
Giddons resigns as Arts Enter Executive Director
Cape Charles Mirror Report – Wayne Creed
Executive Director of Arts Enter Cape Charles, Larry Giddons has resigned his position after being appointed just a few months earlier. Mr. Giddons’ appointment followed an internal shakeup at the organization, which occurred after the stepping down of long time Executive Director, Clelia Shepperd. With Ms. Shepperd’s exit, the Arts Enter Board of Directors, led by New Jersey native Hank Mayer, quickly moved to clean house. This led to the leaving of long-time administrator, Mary Ann Roehm.

Shore writer Anna Burger publishes new children’s book
Cape Charles Mirror Review
by Wayne Creed
When my children were young, like most dads, I would read to them at bedtime, just before they went to sleep. It became one of our nightly routines, one that we almost never missed. It was a wonderful time of life, as not only was I exposing my children to new ideas and worlds through books, it was also a way for me to reconnect with parts of my own childhood, able to revisit some of the books that I loved growing up. As an adult (and English Major), it also gave me an appreciation for the talent and quality that can go into the children’s book genre.

The Rootstone Jug Band – Old Time Jug Band – Blues and Roots August 7th at 8:00 p.m. at The Oyster Farm at Kings Creek
The Rootstone Jug Band evokes a time before radios and recordings, when folk songs were
woven into the fabric of rural life. This group has studied and absorbed a range of regional
styles and old-time songs from Virginia are presented alongside material from the classic
jug bands and songsters of Memphis, all with a deep respect for the music’s origins. These
songs are essential ingredients in the American musical recipe, and in the hands of and
voices of the Rootstone Jug Band they come alive again!
The Rootstone Jug Band was initially scheduled to play an outdoor event at the Cape
Charles Yacht Center. Because of the uncertainty of the weather, the concert venue has
been changed to The Oyster Farm at Kings Creek located at 500 Marina Village Circle.
