The confederate monument that has stood on the Eastville Green for over one hundred years was taken down on Thursday.
The Monument, guns, cannonballs, and other artifacts are scheduled to be stored at the County’s Facilities Management Shop in Eastville.
The firm overseeing the removal is Stratified, Inc., a Washington DC firm that provides “environmental and construction services.” The price tag for the removal is $39,000.
The future of the monument is uncertain. According to the County, there are no plans regarding where the monument will be located.
