PARABLE of the PONY. (The importance of being optimistic).
Ronald Reagan was a master at telling stories and jokes to make a point. Here is one of my favorites.
A man had two small children. One was born very pessimistic and the other very optimistic. One day he took them to place where there were two rooms. He took the hand of the child who was very pessimistic and led him to the first of the two rooms. He opened the door and put the child inside. Immediately the little pessimist bust int tears. The father asked why the little boy was crying when he had been given all the wonderful new toys? Being a born pessimist, the child screamed “ What if one of the toys breaks”? The father closed the door and went to get the second child who was born an optimist.
He took the hand of the little optimist and led him to the second room. When he opened the door the room was filled with a big pile of horseshit. The little optimist spied a shinny new shovel which he immediately seized and began digging with a big happy grin on his face. The father asked the optimist child why he was so happy when other children would be very sad and disappointed? The optimist beamed up at his father and said “ Dad, with all this horseshit, there has to be a pony under here someplace! “
The moral of this story is: BE OPTIMISTC. Think happy thoughts. Think Trump 2020, four more years, and one more Supreme Court appointment. Think Republican House and Senate. Think about donating your stimulus check to Trump’s re-election campaign. Smile.
