In 1952, Carl Jung published “Synchronicity – An Acausal Connecting Principle”, which focused on his belief that events may be connected by causality; they are also connected by meaning. In recent weeks, we have had this theory tested in Cape Charles. The first event is cloaked in the skullduggery used force harbormaster Smitty Dize out of the harbor. Then, there was the mysterious proposal to try and sell the harbor, or at least lease it out to a ‘management company’. The major proponents of this strategy are also members of Bay Creek. Then, the Mirror received an anonymous response, here:
Aquaculture still booming in Virginia
With Governor Terry McAuliffe attending the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Virginia Oyster Trail, the agriculture news, at least for aquaculture, could not come at a better time. The Eastern Shore is already the third largest producer of hard shell clams and oysters on the East Coast, rendering its status as what should be considered ‘most protected’. While aquaculture showed good gains, traditional AG showed some signs of slippage. Much of this may have to do with environmental issues, relative drought conditions, and more land being zoned away from AG more towards residential development.
Deathtrap at North Street Playhouse
Deathtrap is a play written by Ira Levin in 1978, and with its many plot twists and the way in which it references itself as a play within a play, almost becomes a caricature of itself, a thriller within a thriller. Deathtrap holds the record for the longest running comedy-thriller on Broadway, running for four years with almost 1800 performances. The published script describes it as “something so evil that it infects all who touch it. The thing has a life of its own. In Deathtrap, Levin has taken the basic components of thrillers and horror stories; murder, deceit, innocent dialogue with hidden sinister meanings, plot reversals, unexpected turns of events, etc., and twisted and rearranged the pieces again and again.” [Read more…]

MAÎTRE D’: Thai Rada offers authentic Thai Cusine
On a cool, rainy night, on our way to see Death Trap at the North Street Playhouse, my wife and I decided to make a night of it, and went to eat at the Thai Rada restaurant in Onley. We have been a fan of Thai cooking for many years now, and many of the dishes such as pad Thai and the red and green curries are our favorites. The essence of Thai cuisine are dishes that play with sour, sweet, salty, bitter, and spicy taste sensations, juggling these odd bits, and forcing them to work together.
My wife, as always ordered the pad Thai (due to our late arrival, the chef had just run out of pork, so she ordered the beef pad Thai). Traditionally, Pad Thai is basically dried rice noodles, which are stir-fried with eggs and chopped firm tofu, and flavored with tamarind pulp, fish sauce, dried shrimp, garlic or shallots, red chili pepper and palm sugar, and served with lime wedges and often chopped roast peanuts. This version by Thai Rada did not disappoint, with a delicate citrus edge, my wife found it hard to stop eating, even with the ample portions.

UPDATE: accused perpetrator of park assault indicted
The assault that took place in Central Park was surely one of the low points of the last year for Cape Charles. However, it did shine a light on the professionalism, intelligence, grit and training of Chief Pruitt’s CCPD. Through hard work, and basically just good old fashioned police work, the perpetrator was apprehended by the CCPD in less than a day after the assault.
Today, Frederick Wayne Baker (16), who is a resident of Cape Charles was indicted in Northampton Circuit Court for abduction, use of firearm while committing abduction, rape, use of firearm while committing rape, forcible sodomy, use of firearm while committing sodomy, robbery, use of firearm while committing robbery and stealing a firearm.
