Town Council of Cape Charles has set September 5, 2020 as a day of celebration to recognize the 10th Anniversary of Cape Charles Central Park. The date also recognizes the Citizens for Central Park for their continued efforts to improve the park.
Central Park was first dedicated on September 5, 2010.
The Citizens for Central Park have worked every year since to improve the Park, such as by leading the charge for the construction of the restroom
facility, improved landscaping including over 56 new trees, upgrades to the electrical infrastructure, replacement of memorial trees as needed, the sale and placement of memorial bricks, new child-friendly and safe playground equipment, the creation, and posting of signage listing the names of the playground equipment donors, creation and posting of signage listing the
names of the donors of the memorial trees in Central Park, introduction and management of the Grand Illumination Celebrations.
The group has also been instrumental in putting on 57 free summer concerts since 2012.
