The fall and winter have taken a toll on the Cape Charles Beach. Seasonal erosion is normal, but the last few seasons have taken a bite out of the beachfront.
The dunes are still gaining, but the space from the dunes to the waterline has been steadily decreasing.
As marketing, Beachfront Bargain Hunt, and word of mouth has spread, this summer is primed to be very tourist-heavy.
With larger crowds and a smaller beach, this could impact the beach experience, at least for locals that tend to come on weekends.
