Eastville, Va. — Rob Stubbs, the chief of police and town manager in Eastville, has been ousted from both positions, according to the Eastville town council.
The decision to remove Stubbs was announced during a recent town council meeting.
In a press release, the town emphasized that the council’s decision stemmed from a loss of confidence in Stubbs’ ability to fulfill the responsibilities of both town manager and police chief effectively.
“We are committed to making decisions that are in the best interest of the Town of Eastville, and this was not a decision we took lightly,” Mayor Sturgis stated in the press release.
In the wake of Stubbs’ dismissal, David Eder has been appointed as the interim town manager, with Lynn Christian stepping in as the interim police chief. Both will hold their positions until permanent replacements are named.
This development follows a period of scrutiny for Eastville, particularly highlighted by a WTKR News 3 Investigation last December into speeding tickets on the Eastern Shore. Mayor Sturgis told News 3 that Stubbs’ termination is not related to that investigation.
